Laker Airways was a wholly private, British independent airline founded by Sir Freddie Laker in 1966. It was originally a charter airline flying passengers and cargo worldwide. The Skytrain concept was targeting people clamoring for discounted air fares across the Atlantic. In 1977 it pioneered the long-haul, low-cost “no frills” airline concept changing the history of aviation.
